Some Thoughts

This is kind of launching from where Rick said: I need to see Jesus the way God shows me.

I went out of town last week and had a mini-retreat.  It was awesome.  God reminded me in so many different ways that my faith journey is simply that: my faith journey of learning to more deeply trust in Him as He reveals.  I don’t have to defend or expose that to anyone. It is His unique gift to my heart and spirit.

From a book called Practicing the Presence of People by Mike Mason:

We give up the pursuit of knowledge and simply believe.  Only then do we gain the power to counter evil, not by seeking to know or understand it, but rather by knowing and doing good.

And from The Wisdom of Tenderness by Brennan Manning:

To live in the wisdom of accepted tenderness is to humbly acknowledge the limitations of the rational, scientific, finite mind and to freely embrace the mystery. … A significant shift in functional identity slowly stirs within us….  An additional effect of understanding God as the heart of tenderness is reconciliation.  Reconciliation is the inner healing of our hearts by the tenderness of Jesus.  It’s a gentle growing into a oneness not of our own making… a calm joy flowing from an engaged, participatory encounter with the Son of compassion, the healer of Israel.
