Shauna and I attended some of the Olympics in 2002 when they were held in Salt Lake City.  She lived in Provo, and her father was (may still be) the Bishop (in the Mormon church) to the homeless population.  SLC rounded up their homeless during the Olympics, shipped them off to other towns where they put them up in hotels with four square meals a day.  Hooray for them.

Shauna's father was FURIOUS.  He advocated on their behalf and insisted that if the town had the money to do that during the Olympics, they had the money to help these folks on a regular basis when the world packed up and went home.  Needless to say, city officials didn't see it the same way.....</description>
