How I shall Live out my day.
I shall really live my day from the beginning to the end. I shall allow for changes in the middle so that the start and finish don’t end up the same or too close together.
I shall not over-inflate my day, by adding too much to my “to do list”, to do so only gives me a false sense of importance which I have no time for.
I shall resist the temptation to artificially sweeten the next 24 hours, the contents that fall between the beginning and end may not taste as I wish but I tend to like things sweeter than they need to be and besides we are to be salt to the earth.
I shall try to remember that the only voice I need to obey is the still small one that speaks to my spirit. It’s not the easiest to understand but it is the clearest I will hear all day. This voice is found in the simplest and least obvious aspects of my life.
I shall work to remind myself that God works through people, all people. That each person that is woven into the next 24 hours, is done so by the hand of God and that each of them has greater importance than I shall ever know.
I shall live today as though It is my last. In those moments when my mind tries to fill today with tomorrow I shall find myself on the truest battlefield. For the real war for freedom is not against an enemy I can see. The most significant foe I will find is in my mind and spirit where I struggle to stay free.
I shall, at the end of this day, remember how it began: a cup of coffee, a warm fire, the word of God and a quiet voice that said to me “Be still and know that I am God”.
