Micah 4:6-7 A New Thing is Coming.

In that day, says the Lord, I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast and those whom I have afflicted: I will make the lame a remnant, and the outcast a strong nation:So the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even forever.

I read these words and see so much that God is saying to us. God is in the process of assembling the lame, the outcast and those whom He has afflicted. He is looking for the remnant to build a strong nation. People are tired of the status quo, not simply because it’s the status quo but because it doesn’t work. Whether it be in Politics or in the church, I believe a new thing is coming. Does God afflict us? I think so. Does He know that we are outcasts and allows it maybe even creates the circumstances? I’m nearly sure of it. Why? I don’t have to know.

We as humans fight Gods plan. We don’t like to think of ourselves as rebellious but we are. God keeps impressing on me the fact that I am cavalier about who He is. I read verses like the one I just gave and feel good because I understand it. But give me Micah 5:10 and I don’t want to see that side of God. In verses 10-15.

“And it shall be in that day, says the Lord that I will cut off your horses from your midst and destroy your chariots. I will cut off your cities and your land and throw down all your strongholds. I will cut off your sorceries from your hand and you shall have no soothsayers. Your carved images I will also cut off and your sacred pillars from your midst. You shall no more worship the work of your hands: I will pluck your wooden images from your midst thus I will destroy your cities and I will execute vengeance in anger and fury on the nations that have not heard”.

Wow! Is God love? You bet He is. Does God have a good plan for my life? In Jeremiah 29:11 He says so. But God is God and will execute His judgement, whether I believe it or not.

I read this verse and see so much. Here’s the thing I wonder that we don’t miss: God is not doing all of this to be mean, to prove anything (He doesn’t have to prove anything) He’s doing it because He’s trying to bring us into relationship with Himself and His Kingdom.

I get tired of hearing people say, “well so and so is so good”. But who’s definition of good is good? God explains in Micah 6:8 what it means to be good.

“He has shown you , O man (and woman) what is good: And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly,to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Relationship, relationship, relationship.

Yes God is love and He is the ultimate father. But we must remember who’s in charge and that He has His plan.
